Family

 

When I went to Albury over Christmas as well as seeing mum, Amanda, Zarlie and Cooper, I got to catch up with my dad, brother and sister who I have not seen for about 3 years (we talk often on the phone). It was really great to spend a few days with them. All the kids got on famously. This is a picture of them - Maisie (yellow shirt), Keenan (red shirt), Cooper my nephew (orange shirt), Zarlie my niece (in pink), Grace my sister (black and white dress) and Jason my brother (hoodie).

Keenan thought it was hilarious calling Grace Auntie all the time because there is only about 18 months between them. We all went out for tea and I commented to dad that there would be no way that someone could guess the connection between all of us.

Hope everyone is surviving this hot weather. It is the hottest it has ever been here on King Island with the mercury hitting 38 yesterday. Not that hot compared to other parts of Australia but hot for this little island.

Finally back

I went through a stage of being not sure of whether I wanted to continue with the whole blog thing and if you have not already guessed I have decided that I will stick with it. It has been a really useful tool for communicating with family and friends.

I can't believe how quickly we are back into the swing of 2009. I took Maisie and Keenan to Albury and Jugiong for Christmas. Anthony stayed behind to build his shed. I stayed off the Island for 2 weeks and left the kids with my mum for some time. They won't be back till Sunday 1st February. I think from looking at the weather that they will be glad to get back to the cooler weather of King Island.

Anthony has finally got the shed of his dreams. George, all the shed phots are for you!!

This is the view from the back of the shed. I have mentioned we have been fencing as well. We have a sheep and a ram coming in the next few days so we have divided our block so we have a one acre block that will be for the pony and the sheep.

We also have been redoing the kids rooms. We swapped them around, pulled up the carpet, discovered lovely floor boards, gave them a polish, painted the walls. Phew I am so looking forward to a holiday!!!!

The sun is shining and I have just spent the last 2 hours sitting on the grass having a chat with friends and not felt the slightest bit guilty about it. Enjoying since it is my only day off this week. I am working at the Ports (where I worked when I first came to the Island) as the other clerk is away. Christmas bonus money!!

Long time between drinks!!!

Busy Busy Busy!!!! I have settled into my new job but the work load is big, plus study, plus life, so I am feeling a little beat. Each year the centre has a creche fair that is our major fundraiser. We had that on Sunday and it turned out to be a wonderful event with lots of people coming and some much needed funds raised.

This ones for you mum. This is the range hood that we finally got installed. Makes such a difference.

 

Finally got me a new camera after god knows how long!!! Anthony got his shed and I got the camera. Sounds like an unfair deal but I get sooo many advantages of him having the shed. Don't tell him I said that!

 

Nikon D80 and I am loving it. Hopefully I will have lots of oppurtunities to get it out.

This is Jasper. She is a real little princess but very cute. So much for having outdoor dogs. This little munchkin likes to be inside and it is really funny seeing her get lost in the grass. Its hard to see how little she is but even for her 11 weeks she is tiny.

Netball

Well it is that time of year again where we play the finals of netball. We managed to stay second on the ladder all year losing only to team Emeralds. We won against them earlier in the year but had not managed to gain the upper hand again. We played them in the first round of finals with the winner going straight to the grand final. Unfortunately we lost by quite abit after playing a not so good game. WE then played off the next day in the second semi against sapphires. They have been a team all year that have given us a good game each time we played them and could not count them out. Lukily we won but only by a few points. We had made it to the grand final.

Last Sunday we played the grand final against Emeralds. We were pumped and after a training session of hot chips and milkshakes we were united as a team to try our best. We were the underdogs with the coach of the other team having written her winning speech. What a game we played. We won by 4 points. I screamed so much I ended up with no voice for three days. I was a very proud coach. One of our players won player of the game and also equal best and fairest for the season. Another of our team won the encouragement award and both our shooters (won of those being Maisie) came in second and third for goal shooters of the season. I could not have asked for a better season.

How much is that doggy in the window???

More puppy photos! These are the three puppies that we have to give away to a good home. They are very playful and love having cuddles with the kids. It would be nice to keep them all but 5 dogs in one family is a bit too much.

 Lovely day here. Crisp air, blue sky and a day off to enjoy it.

New job

I have loved my time at the council but have decided to take up the oppurtunity as the Director of the King Island Childdcare and Early Learning Centre. I am back doing my Diploma and am looking forward to doing both study and work.

For me this is a full revolution to be back where I started my working life from.

This is a small centre with some lovely staff and children.

I start next Monday and am doing loads of reading trying to bring myself up to date.

Anthony is away at the moment on the mainland. He is skiing at Falls Creek and the hiking up Mount Bogong. The kids and I are hanging at home, enjoying each others company. Would be nice if it stopped raining so we could get outside.

This is what I discovered on the camera when I went to download the images today. Maisie has had a friend over and they have been dressing up, scrapbooking and obviously taking photos.

Very wet and yukky here this weekend so it was a good excuse to lounge around.

 

There are a few hours left in the day so I am going to sit and do some scrapping with my new stuff from Stampin up. The spring catalogue has some very cute stuff in it.
